The best electric toothbrushes in the UK
In the UK, the Oral-B iO3 is our pick for most people, the iO2 for gentle brushing, and the Sonicare 4100 for sonic fans. Never pay the RRP: Oral-B and Philips brushes sell far below it at Amazon UK, Boots and Superdrug most weeks.

UK electric toothbrush prices have a strange habit: the recommended retail price on an Oral-B box can be several times what the brush sells for most of the year. That makes “70% off” stickers at Boots, Superdrug and Amazon UK almost meaningless. Judge a deal by what the brush usually costs, not by the RRP.
We haven’t listed UK prices on this page. Our October 2026 price check covered Amazon US only, and we’d rather show nothing than a pound figure we can’t stand behind. The buttons below go to Amazon UK, where you’ll see today’s price.

Best overall in the UK

Oral-B iO Series 3
- Cleaning actionOscillating-rotating with magnetic iO drive
- Pressure warningSmart sensor: red when too hard, green when right
- BatteryAbout 2 weeks
- HeadsiO heads (Ultimate Clean, Gentle Care, Radiant White)
The quiet iO motor with a pressure light you can see in the mirror: red when you press too hard, green when you’ve got it right. Three modes, a head-change alert and about two weeks of battery. It spends much of the year discounted in the UK, so never pay close to RRP.
Gentlest Oral-B

Oral-B iO Series 2
- Cleaning actionRound head, iO entry motor
- Pressure warningAutomatic: slows the brush and shows red when you press too hard
- BatteryOral-B says long-lasting; no day figure on the listing
- HeadsiO heads (Gentle Care, Ultimate Clean)
Built for people moving from a manual brush. It starts in super-sensitive mode and slows itself down when you press too hard. Usually the cheapest way into the iO range, often sold in twin packs.
Best Sonicare

Philips Sonicare 4100
- Cleaning actionSonic (31,000 movements a minute)
- Pressure warningYes: the handle pulses
- BatteryUp to 14 days
- HeadsC2 Optimal Plaque Control (click-on)
The gentle, quiet option with a pressure sensor and up to 14 days of battery. Make sure it’s the 2026 version, which adds three intensity settings.
Longest battery

Laifen Wave Pro
- Cleaning actionHybrid: 60° oscillation plus 66,000 vibrations a minute
- Pressure warningYes: warns you and slows the motor
- BatteryUp to 70 days (Laifen figure)
- HeadsLaifen heads (Pro Series packs fit all Laifen models)
Up to 70 days per charge by Laifen’s figure, a pressure sensor and USB-C charging. It sweeps and vibrates at the same time, which feels different from either Oral-B or Sonicare.
Best British brand

SURI Pro Sonic Toothbrush
- Cleaning actionSonic
- Pressure warningYes
- BatteryOver 4 weeks (SURI figure)
- HeadsPlant-based heads, castor-oil bristles (medium-soft)
SURI is a London company, and the SURI Pro is its aluminium sonic brush with a pressure sensor, a month-plus battery, USB-C and recyclable plant-based heads. The cheaper SURI Core arrived in August 2026. Both are also sold on SURI’s own site.
Boots, Superdrug or Amazon UK?
All three run frequent promotions on the same Oral-B and Philips brushes, and Boots often adds loyalty points. The price you should compare is the typical selling price over the past few months, not the RRP. If two shops are within a pound or two, buy where returns are easiest for you.
UK practicalities
- Plugs: UK stands use a two-pin shaver plug. Most bathrooms have a shaver socket; elsewhere you’ll need a two-pin to three-pin adapter, which many boxes include.
- Heads: classic Oral-B heads fit the Pro range, iO heads fit iO handles only, and any current Sonicare click-on head fits current Sonicare handles. Supermarket multipacks are often the best value for classic Oral-B heads.
- UK-only models: the Oral-B Pro 3 range and Vitality brushes are common in UK shops. We haven’t re-checked them this round, so they aren’t picks here.
Boots electric toothbrush offers, decoded
Boots runs electric toothbrush promotions often, and the shelf “was” price is frequently the RRP that hardly anyone pays. Judge a Boots offer the same way as an Amazon one: compare the price you’d pay today with what the same model has sold for over the past few months, and check whether the bundle includes heads or a case. Boots Advantage Card points add a little value; they don’t turn an ordinary price into a deal.
UK-only models
Some brushes on British lists aren’t sold in the US. The Oral-B Pro 3 3500 is the UK and European cousin of the Pro 1000, with a visible pressure light and a travel case. The Vitality Pro is Oral-B’s cheapest rechargeable in the UK, without a pressure sensor. If you see either at a good price, the Pro 3 3500 is the one we’d buy.
Plugs and charging
UK models usually come with a two-pin plug that fits bathroom shaver sockets, or with a USB charger. Brushes bought from the US may use a different plug and voltage; most modern chargers and USB-powered brushes handle both, but check before buying an import.
By budget, in brief
Under £50: an Oral-B Pro 3 3500 or Sonicare 4100 on offer, both often well below RRP. Around £50 to £100: the Oral-B iO2 or iO3 on offer. More than £100: the Laifen Wave Pro for battery life, or a SURI for design. Prices in the UK swing so much that the same brush can sit in all three bands in a single month.
Should I buy now or wait for a sale?
Oral-B and Sonicare handles discount hard and often, so if you are not replacing a dead brush this week, decide the price you will pay and wait for it. Heads almost never discount.
What we checkedThe iO3 is sold on Amazon US as a bundle with two heads and a case, which is why its list price sits higher than older reviews quote.

Will it actually whiten my teeth?
It lifts surface stain from coffee, tea and tobacco, and that often reads as whiter. It cannot change the colour of the tooth underneath, and no brush can.
What we checkedWhitening modes on these handles change speed and add a polishing cup. None of them carry peroxide, which is what changes the shade.

Asked and answered
The Oral-B iO3 for most people. The iO2 if you want the gentlest start, and the Sonicare 4100 if you prefer a sonic brush.
Why is the RRP on Oral-B brushes so high in the UK?
Recommended prices are often set far above what shops charge most of the year, which makes discounts look larger than they are. Compare against the usual selling price instead.
Is SURI a British brand?
Yes. SURI is based in London and sells through Amazon UK and its own website.
